Metapack’s annual The Delivery Conference is one of the most sought-after events within the European E-commerce industry. The satellite event offers an agenda full of trends and insights, placing industry leaders at the forefront of E-commerce strategy and setting the tone for a successful 2025.
Held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London, the event aims to tackle delivery's biggest challenges and opportunities, unlocking profitability through expert insights and breakthrough solutions.
The Parcelly team attended the event this year, and it was a fantastic opportunity to network, learn and engage with experts across the logistics space, meeting with industry peers from the likes of Uber Direct, Hived, FedEx and many, many more.
The day started with a welcome talk from Metapack’s CEO, Al Ko, who reflected on the rapid changes in the shipping and logistics industries and the continued evolution of e-commerce. The first session then kicked off with a keynote from Richard Lim, CEO of Retail Economics, who presented key data on E-commerce growth and the importance of retailers staying agile in their strategies. A variety of insightful panel discussions followed, ranging from the purchasing power of young consumers through smart tech and how to outpace the rest in 2025, which stressed how important it is to choose the right delivery partner.
We tuned into the afternoon talk ‘Convenience is your Edge: Transforming Delivery into Opportunity’ where Mia Yamaguchi, Retail Development Lead at Uber Direct and Richard Lim, CEO at Retail Economics, highlighted the necessity of rapid delivery. The session presented research they had conducted on understanding consumer expectations and merchant offerings for last-mile delivery. The research explored the rising demand for fast delivery and the gap between what consumers expect and what retailers are currently providing.
After lunch, we had an afternoon of thought-provoking panel discussions covering three main themes: AI, consumer expectations and resilience in logistics. The session ‘Optimising Delivery Performance in Real-Time’ discussed how leveraging real-time data can help retailers optimise their delivery strategies. Speakers Matthew Mitchell, Managing Director – eCommerce Sales at FedEx and Niall Boyle, Business Development Director at Auctane, shared valuable takeaways on how harnessing data can lead to service efficiency, therefore meeting delivery promises and customer expectations.
Finally, we tuned into the discussion ‘The Generational Divide: Tailoring Delivery for Lasting Customer Loyalty’ by Cheyney Cartwright, Head of Commercial UK at Amazon Shipping, and Ben Gilkes, Director of Partner Management at Auctane. This session delved into the findings of Amazon Shipping's latest EU report exploring consumer delivery trends and brand loyalty, observing different age demographics and identifying the groups with the greatest purchasing power.
