The Forecourt Show brings together the leading suppliers and distributors of all fuel types, vehicle care and convenience retail. As part of the UK Food & Drink Shows, it is the UK’s biggest event dedicated to the forecourt and fuel market.
The event took place at the NEC in Birmingham and comprised five shows: The Forecourt Show, National Convenience Show, Food & Drink Expo, Farm Shop & Deli Show and The Restaurant Show. The shows encompassed food development, manufacturing, grocery, hospitality, specialist retail, forecourt and convenience retail, wholesale and food service.
Parcelly team members were delighted to exhibit at The Forecourt Show this year to further expand our network partnerships within this sector. Attending the event across all three days, we saw huge interest in our Pick-Up and Drop-Off (PUDO) and Hyper-local Warehousing services for retailers and franchisers. The Forecourt Show was also situated within the National Convenience Show hall, enabling us to showcase our solutions to visitors within the convenience market.
As a quick introduction to Parcelly, we convert excess space in local businesses into on-demand storage capacity through one powerful technology platform. Our solutions provide value to retailers looking to generate extra revenue, drive store footfall and advertise their business to their community.
Day 1 started and the Parcelly Network Team began showcasing our PUDO and Hyper-local Warehousing services to attendees within the retail space. We received a lot of interest in our parcel collection and return services, particularly when we demoed the Parcelly tech, showing retailers the ease and efficiency of our parcel check-in and check-out processes. In the afternoon on the Convenience Store Stage, there was a panel discussion on ‘The Female Leaders Shaping Convenience’ from The Grocer, Nisa, One Stop Stores, BP and AF Blakemore. This insightful session put a spotlight on some of the most inspiring and influential women in the UK convenience retail sector.
Day 2 was the most popular day of the event. At the Parcelly stand, retailers were interested to learn of our carrier-agnostic platform which enables partnerships with some of the world’s largest carrier and retailer brands. Throughout the event, retailers were excited to learn about what made Parcelly different within the market. For example, our iPhone-based app, full parcel capacity and ongoing customer service support. Again, we attended afternoon panel discussions on the Convenience Store Stage and particularly enjoyed the session ‘The Future Is Flexible’, which covered brand relationships and retailer flexibility to maintain operational efficiency from *Shopt, IGD, C-Talk and CPM.
“Retailers need to sell more. It’s a tough environment. We need to make sure that anything we are selling is driving traffic into their store” Jemma Blaylock, Managing Director at *Shopt.
“We’re telling the brands what we want, and they are listening. The ones that are listening are growing very fast” Aman Uppel, Franchise Partner at One Stop Stores.
Day 3 was a similar set-up, as we continued to present our services and demonstrate our Parcelly tech to attendees. During the event, many other exhibitors within the National Convenience Show and The Food & Drink Expo showed great interest in our Hyper-local Warehousing model, presenting many exciting opportunities for the future. In the afternoon, we attended our final panel discussion on the Convenience Store Stage, ‘Crime in Convenience: A £125m issue’. The panel discussed the challenges retailers face and unpacked solutions to mitigate crime within the convenience sector.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Forecourt Show. It was a pleasure to meet with many of our existing Parcelly merchants as well as so many new faces, who were truly excited by our solutions. It was also great to exhibit alongside forecourt giants such as JET, Gulf, Essar and BP.
A big THANK YOU goes out to the UK Food & Drink Shows for organising such high-quality and well-organised shows that really covered everything! We had a blast and will be sure to see you again soon.
