MEET MR SIDDIQUE, THE OWNER OF LIFESTYLE EXPRESS IN LOTHIAN ROAD, EDINBURGH - OUR PARCELLY LOCATION OF THE MONTH!
For our second Location Spotlight in 2019, we are moving up north to appraise one of our lovely locations in Scotland: Lifestyle Express. Mr. Siddique, the owner, has been running the shop successfully in the heart of Edinburgh with a vision of building a stronger local community. He not only treats his customers like family, but also welcomes tourists with open arms. Within just 6 months of working with Parcelly, Lifestyle Express is already championing our Click&Collect service as well as our first Mini-Warehousing project together with Krispy Kreme (yummi!).
Lifestyle Express is an excellent partner to work with and we cannot be more proud of our collaboration. We had a great time catching up with Mr. Siddique and find out more about his dedication towards serving his customers and our new hyper-local Warehousing collaboration.
Mr Siddique, you are not only offering our Click&Collect service, but have also pioneered our Parcelly Mini-Warehousing Service for Krispy Kreme, together with Deliveroo as on-demand delivery partner. How has your experience been so far?
It has been an incredible experience working with Parcelly, Krispy Kreme and Deliveroo. What I love about your service is that it is so easy to operate. We have just one mobile phone in the store and it can do everything. When the delivery driver comes in to drop off the doughnuts in the morning, we can simply scan the labels using the app. When a customer has made an order via Deliveroo, the driver will come to the shop and I just need to use the same app to scan it out. It is not difficult at all and everyone can do it!
Did you ever envision that your store would hold this many (delicious) doughnuts each day? And do you get to eat the leftover ones...?
Definitely not! As you might have seen on the system, we have around 20 boxes of doughnuts each day. At first, it was quite overwhelming as I thought the doughnuts might stay in the shop for a long time, but it turned out that the turnover rate is super high. I can see that people in Edinburgh have a sweet tooth :-) Unfortunately, I wouldn’t be able to eat any leftovers as Krispy Kreme will come and collect them late evening.
How long have you been running the store and what do you enjoy the most?
I have been running the store for three and a half years now and the experience has been really nice and pleasant. We are located in a financial area filled with consultancies and investment banks, and everyone is well-educated and very friendly. I would say what I enjoyed the most throughout the years would be serving the customers. I meet most of them three times a day. They will come in the morning, lunchtime and after work. They are really like a family to me, as we are in a close-knit community.
What do you like most about Edinburgh?
What I love about Edinburgh is that it is a historical city with a mixture of locals and tourists. Actually, we are close to the city centre which is near Edinburgh castle, so when the tourists visit my shop, I feel a bit like I am the ambassador of Edinburgh, because I always recommend some hidden gems to them... :-) We try our best to make them feel like home!
Can your customers see the boxes of doughnuts and are they surprised by how many of them you store?
The customers can’t see the doughnuts as we store them in a safe place. They are out of sight for security etc reasons. But whenever Deliveroo is in the shop to pick up some of their boxes, my customers are always amazed that we have doughnuts. Some even asked if we are selling them in the shop, as they would like to buy some. I then explain to them that we simply keep stock for Krispy Kreme via Parcelly, and if they would like to buy doughnuts, they can do so via Deliveroo...
