Hello 2022, we have been waiting for you!

We thought we would begin the year by recapping some of our key milestones of 2021. From company innovation to thought leadership and awards, keep reading to see what Parcelly has achieved in the past 12 months! #parcellypower

1) INNOVATION

Throughout 2021 company innovation was essential, and led to a variety of business and partnership developments. We continued growing our Hyper-local Fulfilment model to keep pace with changing shopping trends made paramount by the Covid-19 pandemic. After months of lockdown and social distancing, online shopping became the norm for consumers and businesses had to alter their services for such demand. Increased expectations surrounding deliveries means that customers now expect their orders to be fulfilled at rapid speed. Parcelly’s network of PUDO locations enables brands to achieve same day delivery, fulfilling customers' orders faster than ever before via a Prime-like fulfilment service.

Due to these customer expectations, the number of dark stores has surged, with the model now the new normal in retail. Research showed that ⅔ of consumers used dark retail formats during the pandemic, while for online grocery a fifth (21%) of all in-store activity will be online fulfilment as opposed to in-store transactions in the future, showing significant change compared with pre-COVID. On demand grocery has truly exploded in 2021. As Parcelly has been pioneering hyperlocal on-demand delivery since 2016, it is great to see the market finally catching up!

2) PARTNERSHIPS

We are immensely proud of the partnerships we have begun this year, with our most recent being Blondies Kitchen. Additional partnership development also came via our attendance of Bestway Wholesale’s Conference and the London Coffee Festival 2021, whilst our existing relationships strengthened. We’ve increased the number of Booker and Costcutter Supermarkets Group sites in our network, whilst continuing to grow the services, features and markets we service for industry-leading clients such as DHL and Krispy Kreme.

3) THOUGHT LEADERSHIP

Our role as thought leaders within logistics and the last mile continued. We began 2021 with a Thought Leadership Corner by Shaun Fleming titled “Warehousing in a post-pandemic era” which highlighted trends of more inventory through safety buffers of stock, a greater role for 3PLs and the rise of automation, suggesting that flexibility was key for efficiency within warehousing. Later in the year we published a piece “How Parcelly’s PUDO technology can solve the home delivery sustainability crisis”, giving insight into how Parcelly aims to reduce the environmental impact from the increasing consumer demand of home deliveries, brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Amongst other events, many webinars and virtual conferences, we also attended the Last Mile City Logistics, where our CEO Sebastian Steinhauser took part in a panel discussion on the subject ‘The Future Goes Together?!: Trade- Municipality- Last Mile’.

4) AWARDS

Our summary of 2021 is not complete without mentioning some of our awards and accolades! We are extremely proud to have been awarded “Best Urban Logistics Solutions Provider 2021- UK” in the Global Business Awards 2021 along with winning “Most Innovative Courier Service Provider for 2022- London” in the Global Business Awards 2022.

We also kept being shortlisted, for example as one of the “10 Best Logistics Solution Providers of 2021” by DigiTech Insight Magazine and one of the “Top 5 Last-Mile Delivery Solution Providers in the UK 2022” by Logistics and Transportation Review Europe

5) COMPANY NEWS

2021 has seen the development of our Hyper-local Fulfilment solution. We are proud to have launched our Warehousing 2.0 technology, allowing us to process millions of items, i.e. more than 2 million Krispy Kreme doughnuts in 2021 alone! We’ve seen a 200% PUDO parcel volume increase and 207% PUDO location growth, totalling over 0.6 million transactions across our platform. We also should not forget the 4000 coffees and 600 Krispy Kreme doughnuts fueling our Parcellistas at Parcelly HQ, numbers forecasted to be on the rise in 2022!

August saw us share our Parcelly Partnership Perks, which highlighted the benefits of joining us in a location partnership. We can also reflect on the three Team Spotlight interview blogs, where interns Ayomide, Lucas and Sophia reflected on their time and placements at Parcelly. We thank them again for all their hard work and contributions!

Moreover, on the 8th December Parcelly celebrated it’s 7 year anniversary! We would like to thank our valued clients, incredible business partners and hard working team for their continued support - celebrating with the issue of our limited edition memory mug 2021!

Last but not least, (for those who read until the end!) we are proud to share with you our soon to be announced launch of Parcelly in the USA. A host of news surrounding this expansion will be distributed in an official press release in the weeks to come.

We already have so much more in the pipeline for 2022 and with the month of January now in full swing it is more than certain to be another year of growth and opportunity! The entire Parcelly team wishes you a continued and amazing start to the New Year. We’ll continue to power the new reality of retail and make 2022 one to remember!
