We are celebrating a fantastic milestone for Parcelly- our 10th Anniversary! As we look back on a decade of outstanding teamwork, industry-revolutionising innovation and sustainable growth, we are filled with immense gratitude for everyone who has supported us along the way.
From humble beginnings as a hands-on B2C consumer app, to becoming the leading PUDO (Pick-Up and Drop-Off) B2B technology platform working with global brands, Parcelly has been on a remarkable journey to get to where we are today.
Since 2014, so much has transformed, not only within Parcelly but also in the broader E-commerce and logistics industry. This journey has been about adapting to meet the evolving needs of online consumers and ensuring that our omnichannel tech platform always stays ahead of the curve in the ever-changing logistics industry.
Today, Parcelly’s network remains highly scalable and ever-growing, reaching over 4500 locations in the UK, Ireland and Germany. Our in-house technology is carrier-agnostic and fully customisable, offering businesses first- and last-mile solutions to meet consumer convenience, operational efficiency and sustainability goals for years to come.
2024 has been quite the year for Parcelly! We’ve expanded into two new markets, growing our network to over 4,500 location partners—an 18% increase year-over-year. With over 1.8 million items processed so far this year, we’ve seen a 22% rise in parcel volume year-over-year. At the same time, we’ve taken our tech platform to a whole new level, achieving an automation level of 91%, with less than 4% of items requiring manual intervention- a 17% improvement from last year.
In a Parcelly Team Spotlight like no other, our Co-Founders Sebastian Steinhauser and Michael Kuhlmann sat down together to discuss the journey. You can watch the full version here.
How did the Parcelly idea come about?
Seb: “The idea was born out of my personal frustration with failed deliveries after shopping online. Receiving those ‘failed delivery’ cards in the mail drove me crazy. The system needed improvement, and here we are, 10 years later, offering a full end-to-end solution for any carrier worldwide.”
What is your first memory of Parcelly?
Michael: “The most significant memory for me was my first trip to London, to our office and meeting our first employee, David. Until then, everything had been done via Skype, so there wasn’t a real ‘company’— just faces on Skype. That meeting became the first tangible, real, memory of Parcelly."
Seb: "I love that, because in the end we were introduced through a very good friend of mine. Complete coincidence because the idea was there but I had no idea who to build it with. My early memories are of running app tests on my own, pulling night shifts after work and turning my flat into Parcelly HQ—marketing materials piled up in the living room, with little corners for sales, marketing and so on.”
What has changed?
Seb: "I would ask, what hasn’t changed over the 10 years! Parcelly today looks, feels, and operates completely differently from when we started. It’s unrecognizable compared to those early days.”
What are you most proud of?
Michael: "It might sound cheesy, but it’s my team—the tech team. We took a platform that started as a small consumer-focused business and turned it into a scalable enterprise solution with advanced monitoring. At HQ, we’re moving mountains, and I think many would be surprised by just how small our team really is.
Seb: Absolutely! What makes it even more special is how much each person contributes. The output our team generates is incredible, and we’ve built a reputation not just for working hard but for enjoying what we do and having fun along the way.”
What does the future hold?
Seb: The next phase is critical. We have a proven product-market fit, scaled successfully not just in the UK but internationally, and earned the trust of fantastic clients who work with us across multiple markets. Now, it's time to prepare for the next step: rolling this out at scale."
Michael: “In the past year, every month has been a record month compared to the previous year. It feels like we’re on the brink of a new professional phase, ready to tackle the challenges that come with ever-growing volume. With demand constantly in ‘peak mode,’ we’ll need to adapt and evolve once again.”
