MEET MISS LAWRENCE AT BARNARDO’S OXFORD – OUR PARCELLY LOCATION OF THE MONTH
One of our fabulous charity partner click&collect locations in the network, Barnardo’s Oxford is located right in the city centre and walking distance from the main attractions of Oxford. Barnardo’s shops are a great place for the community to donate their unwanted items as well as shop for quality goods and donate any free time to volunteer in one of the shops. We are extremely pleased to be working towards a common goal with a distinguished charity like Barnardo’s, generating a new revenue stream for each parcel collected or returned, with 100% of these profits being reinvested into the charity.
Chosen for providing an amazing customer service and working for #AgoodCause in their community, Barnardo’s Oxford is a fantastic location to work with. We had a great time talking with Mrs. Lawrence, the store manager, and finding out more about how she got involved with volunteer work.
So, how did you get into this charity type of work?
Oh, it is just very satisfying to help others in this way. I used to work for a different charity previously, but recently changed roles to work for Barnardo’s. I am managing this store now since October 2017.
What is your favourite part about working here?
I would say it is the customer interaction, for sure! Apart from being motivated, it is very satisfying to think how my work is contributing to raise money to help children around the UK. I really love this part of the job!
What do you like about providing the Parcelly service in your store?
Not many people buy things straight away, but once they come into the store more regularly to pick up their parcels, they start noticing the great range of products we offer and eventually find something that suits their needs. On top of that it is the income from each Parcelly booking, which is donated back into the charity.
